About Me

I’m a native UK English speaker, with a BA(Hons) in English Literature from the University of Warwick (First class) and a MA in Writing, Nature and Place from the University of Exeter (Distinction). Comfortable handling US, AU and Canadian English as well as UK English, I’ve undertaken and passed core proofreading training with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.websiteaboutpic

I’m experienced in proofreading work across the whole academic spectrum, and have proofed PhD theses as various as nuclear fusion and folksong. A humanities student at heart, I also proof a lot of academic papers and theses in the social sciences (particularly concerning China and East Asian studies), education, management and leadership, film and television, biological sciences, and economics.

I work in Research Services for Exeter University, and have spent over a decade working in quality-related roles in the education sector (including an examining body), so I understand the importance of academic integrity and fine detail. It’s also meant that I’ve amassed experience in proofreading professional documentation, policies and procedures, as well as a huge array of training and quality assurance materials.
